Use Resources Wisely

collected bits of string coming out of a pouch

Collected bits of string. Perfectly useful for something.

I think about this a lot. “Use resources wisely.” It’s one of the tenets of the Girls Scouts. A memorized statement many years ago that has stuck with me. I don’t recall the others... something about being kind, helpful, and respectful. All the things girls are expected to be. *eye roll* The idea that I was now responsible for the care and use of things was a game-changer. It was empowering!

Frugality is a family trait, so this concept was nothing new to me (Save that piece of string, it’s perfectly good!) Now, when I think about using my resources wisely, I realize it’s not just about being thoughtful about using of things, it’s also about accessing and using information. This has been useful to me as I navigate new business opportunities and expand my creative skill set.

Using resources wisely has been a recurring theme as I research, evaluate, prioritize, and implement next steps. Not just in my business, but also in life. Turns out, that Girl Scout oath (at least part of it) was a useful resource.
